North of Farmington, Mississippi, on April 6th and 7th of 1862,
the Battle of Shiloh brought the sounds of booming guns and cannon
fire. The dead, dying, wounded and survivors of the Confederate
Armies were trekked back through Farmington on the way to Corinth.
On May 3rd, 4th, and 5th, skirmishes between Union and Confederate
forces were fought at Farmington.
No
one was ready for the morning of May 9, 1862, when war was brought
with full force to Fa
rmington.
Forces under Union Commander Major General John Pope and Confederate
Commander Major General Earl Van Dorn met just west of the Town

The 148th Anniversary of the Battle of Farmington will held in 2010
on the original battleground of the May 9, 1862 event. Watch fighters
battle of over 160-acres of Mississippi rolling hills. The 2010
Battle of Famington promises to one of the best in this area, under
the Direction of the Army of Tennessee and Heritage Keepers of America,
General Tom Doss and Rick Revel.

The
2010 Battle of Farmington will be held in a re-enactor and family-friendly
environment. An Army of Tennessee/Heritage Keepers of America event,
the re-enactment will take on September 18-19, 2010 with an educational
day being held on September 17, 2010. The re-enactment will be held
over 160-acres of rolling hills with United States and Confederate
States camps at least 1/4 miles apart. Get
